Last week our speaker was to 9815 Rotarian and District Governor Nominee, Murray Wilson, a Victorian Bail Justice, who was to deliver a talk about changes to the bail laws. Unfortunately there was some confusion as to the time of day that our meetings are, Murray was prepared for an evening meeting and unable to attend. However we had an enjoyable fellowship meeting instead.

Late last week I collected the latest edition of Rotary Down Under from my letter box and having a quick flick through it I noticed that this edition has a number of articles about promoting Rotary to the community. I encourage members to read these as they may they cover modern promotional methods, something that most of us are not up to date with and are likely to be beneficial to us in the future.

This week our speaker is Jules Gaddie, one of our newer members, with a ‘Man Behind the Badge’ presentation. New members are encouraged to give a presentation on their life and what they have done or achieved, this week it is Jules turn.

After this week and for the next two weeks we are unable to meet at Cilantro as Tony is taking leave. Next week the meeting will be at Beau's in Centre Road, Bentleigh.

	District Assembly - May 23 Every year the District provides information sessions for incoming Directors/Club Executives at a District Assembly. This year is no different. If you are leading a committee or any position in the Club, it is highly recommended you participate in District Assembly. Market Report: HAPPY MOTHERS DAY An overcast but dry start to the day.
unfortunately plenty of empty stalls today. Geoff whipper snipped the long grass on nature strip at market entrance. A happy market with thanks to the team who worked well together.

Important message to Market Leaders: New Computer
The iPad is NO LONGER. Entry of Market Report and Try Booking access is now done via new computer in the office. The procedure for its use is in the office.

Rotary leads community effort for new Riding for Disabled arena

A major Rotary-led partnership has delivered a transformative covered arena and facility upgrade for Whakatū Riding for Disabled, NZ, ensuring year-round access, improved safety and long-term sustainability for its riders, volunteers and horses.

The completion of a covered arena, staging area and a makeover of the existing infrastructure marks a significant milestone in the Whakatu Group Riding for Disabled’s (WRDA) future – for its staff, volunteers, clients and horses.

From a childhood in refugee camps to a Rotary Peace Fellow, Gatdet Bol Bangoang is translating lived experience into measurable, community-led peacebuilding in South Sudan.

Gatdet Bol Bangoang studied for a Professional Development Certificate in Peacebuilding at The Rotary Peace Centre at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, in 2024-25. He was supported by District 9920.

Funeral & tributes - member John Mason

Many current members, past members and Rotarians from other Clubs attended the funeral of John Mason last Wednesday.

John had been a member of Rotary for over 35 years.

I had the honour and privilege of posthumously awarding John's 6th PHF along with presenting the family with a beautiful memorial plaque from the Club in recognition of his service.

Changing lives in rural Cambodia

Across rural Cambodia, Rotary clubs and community partners are delivering lasting change by combining clean water, safe housing and human connection to transform lives one village at a time.

In the rural and remote provinces of Cambodia, where access to clean water, safe sanitation and secure housing can never be taken for granted, Rotary is once again proving the power of service in action. A dedicated RAWCS project led by the Rotary Club of East Maitland, NSW, has been quietly but profoundly changing lives, one family, one village, one connection at a time. This year, the impact has grown further, with the Rotary Club of Morisset, NSW, joining the project and the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise, NSW, providing valued support.

Springvale City Rotary Club Fundraiser

Members Linda O'Brien, Helen Parker and myself attended the annual End Polio fundraiser last Thursday evening at the Saigon Rex Restaurant in Springvale.

We were accompanied by Rotarian PDG Bob Richards from the Sandringham RC.

As usual, it was a most colourful affair very well attended by Rotarians, friends of Rotary and amny local dignitaries.

Springvale City is certainly is a club that is well connected to its community.

They raised, somewhere of the order of $25,000 on the and associated fundraising efforts.

It would be terrific if perhaps more of our members might consider attending next year.

If an event is inviting members to register there will be a button with the word: "Members" below "Online Registration". refer image at left.

Note that you need to be already logged in as a member.
As venues need to be advised of numbers PRIOR to the event, please register by noon on the day prior unless otherwise stated.
If you are not a member, this page will not be of any help. It may still be possible to register for an event as a non member if the event is open to the public.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
