Message from our President
From the Desk of President Margaret
Spring is around the corner, and with it comes new life and hope after some months of cold, dormant days. The club can also look forward to new beginnings. We start September off by having the DG’s visit on the 7th, followed by a club forum the week after (14th). I hope that as many members as possible will be able to attend the meeting in person and provide valuable feedback as well as take ownership of projects that hopefully will be the outcome of the forum.
Every club will soon have to vote on the zone 8 “Regionalisation Pilot Project”.
There is a succinct article in the July 2022 issue of Rotary Down Under. It summarizes very clearly what Regionalisation hopes to achieve. Further information can be found on-line in creatingtomorrowrotary.org. I urge all members to familiarise themselves with this project, so that we can make an informed choice with our vote.
As I write this we are all preparing for our Curry Night. Let's make the most of this and other up-coming social events to enjoy fellowship with our fellow members.
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Margaret Mason
Editor's note: Here is a video to watch, which contains powerful endorsements of the project from a number of very influential Senior Rotarians. Video here

Following the Club's recent donation, Marriot Services have received the new projector and have demonstrated it at their recent Expo
The followeing note has been received from Kellie Carruthers, Customer Engagement Manager
I am pleased to say the projector has arrived and we have used it for the first Expo we have attended in a few years . I have attached the good news story above for the team . However, I would like on Behalf of Marriott to invite to view the projector working its magic at the day program (Wheatley Rd)at your convenience.
Please let me know when is most suitable to attend and I will arrange.
Thank you to Rotary once again – this has made a large impact on our community and will continue to do so for many years, I am sure.
Rotary statement on recent polio detections in U.S., Europe
The recent detection of the vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 case in New York, USA, and isolates in several environmental samples collected in London are stark reminders that as long as polio exists anywhere, it is a threat everywhere.
After discovering new perspectives and being inspired by new ideas at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, attendees and virtual participants are looking ahead to next year's gathering in Melbourne, the sparkling second city of Australia.

Visiting Rotarians: Cameo appearance of Charles Renner, Jo Impey
Turned up a lovey day. We were entertained by Pedro Fuentes with a double bass which made the day special. Ron as usual helped us on the day. We had a great team of course. It will be handy to have an electric kettle.
