Well, this week will be our last general meeting for this Rotary year and hasn’t the year gone quickly, it only seems like yesterday that Tim Lynch was putting the chain of office around my neck. This is also the last bulletin for the year and the last time my words will appear in the bulletin. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for contributing to the club and being involved with club projects, as the club is not the president or the board, but every member of the club and everyone contributes. Having just mentioned the board, I would like to thank all board members for their contribution, it takes a lot of effort and time time to run a committee, prepare reports and attend board meetings. This Saturday night will see the process continue with me handing the office over to President Elect Neville Kruss, I wish him all the best for the coming year.

This week there will not be a guest speaker, instead we will review the year by each committee chair giving a short presentation highlighting their committee’s accomplishments. Last week’s speaker was Geoff Gartly, who gave a presentation on new Tax and Capital Gains Rules, which created quite a bit of discussion. Last week the vote for the donation of $9,129 to South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA) did not occur as Kellie was unable to attend.

So, as I sign off for last time I will say that I will look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday night at the Rossdale Golf Club. (Details and Registration HERE)

A good day once the sun came out. Thanks to Helen (Nodrum) for delicious home made cakes for breakfast/morning tea. Thanks to Helen and Kevin.

Rotary clubs changing lives with Interplast

Rotary clubs across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific are transforming lives through their enduring partnership with Interplast, funding surgeries and training that restore health, dignity and opportunity for thousands in developing nations.

During 2025 and 2026, dozens of clubs across the whole of Rotary South Pacific enabled the provision of life-changing treatment in developing nations, continuing the proud tradition of Rotary support for Interplast, which began when Interplast was co-founded by Rotary in 1983.

From Canning River in Western Australia to Auckland Harbourside in New Zealand, from Morphett Vale in the suburbs of Adelaide to Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, from Bentleigh Moorabbin Central in Melbourne to Te Awamutu in the North Island of New Zealand, Rotary clubs have provided funding for a wide variety of Interplast programs. All of these programs have one thing in common. They change the lives of hundreds of current and future patients.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Grant reminded everyone of changeover on Saturday 27/6. Linda has asked members planning to attend to also register their attendance on the club website. Also a reminder that payments are required before the event.
Next week's club meeting on 24/6 will be our last for the Rotary year at Cilantro, and when President Grant will present appreciation certificates.
Ron Brownlees has received information of a survey being conducted by Moorabbin Police. He will forward it to club members for their interest.
Ian Ballantine reminded everyone Helen Parker is running in the Melbourne Half Marathon on Sunday 12 July and raising funds for Interplast. Club members wishing to support Helen's fund raising campaign can donate funds via a link on the club website. Please check with Ian if you need any assistance.

Several community members arrived at a Rotary event in Hobart on 1 April after hearing a radio interview that morning. This was a clear sign that a falls prevention campaign was already doing more than raising awareness. It was changing behaviour.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
- President Grant reminded club members of the board's approval of a donation to SECASA which will be voted on by members at next week's club meeting on Wednesday 17/6.
- Ian Ballantine informed club members Helen Parker will run in the Melbourne Half Marathon on Sunday 19 July and is raising funds for Interplast. Ian has placed an article on the club website with a link to the donation page for club members wishing to support her efforts.

From humble beginnings in a corrugated iron shack to a thriving school of 320 students, Tender Foot Self Help School stands as a powerful testament to sustained Rotary partnerships transforming lives through education, dignity and opportunity.

In 1996, Tender Foot Self Help School began with eight street children in a corrugated iron shack and one determined teacher, Esther Wamai, who refused to look away.

If an event is inviting members to register there will be a button with the word: "Members" below "Online Registration". refer image at left.

Note that you need to be already logged in as a member.
As venues need to be advised of numbers PRIOR to the event, please register by noon on the day prior unless otherwise stated.
If you are not a member, this page will not be of any help. It may still be possible to register for an event as a non member if the event is open to the public.

Note from the Editor re Images and Events

A point regarding the submission of images for the Bulletin and Website: Members are reminded that images have to meet a minimum size requirement, as has been specified for some time in the section at the bottom of this Bulletin. 820 pixels is the minimum size required with larger being better as this allows for cropping. The submission of images via MMS is NOT preferred as they are too small and of inferior quality. Email or Whatsapp is far superior.
Would any member like to take responsibility for the updating of the Club's Event Calendar? I have created a page of instructions here so it is very easy to take over.
