GUEST SPEAKER - Club member and chartered accountant Geoff Gartly - Budget Update on Tax Issues
Geoff provided a very timely presentation on the budget update around the latest changes in taxation. There are three main tax reforms affecting Negative Gearing, Capital Gains Tax, and Trusts. There is a transition period before the changes are introduced with changes commencing 1/7/27 for Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Tax, and 1/7/28 for Trusts.. These changes will affect all corners of the community in some way. Geoff provided a summary of the changes and their impact with examples for explanation - however he advises professional advice should be sought for anyone affected by these changes directly. Fortunately, Superannuation and SMSFs are not affected. There were lots of questions and comments received from club members. Thank you Geoff for your interesting presentation on a topic that can be confusing and complicated for many.
