Message from our President
Just a reminder that we have DG Alma with is for breakfast on Wednesday 12th and as her time as DG draws to a close its a great opportunity for us to hear her perspective on the past year. She also has some really exciting ideas regarding membership.
She will take most of the meeting so it will be a working breakfast. Can I ask that you all bring a pen and paper as I suspect we are going to have to answer some questions.Regards,
Geoff Gledhill

Volunteers work to keep the community of Kingston, Ontario, healthy and safe
by Arnold R. Grahl
Taken from rotary.org here. Rotary and Rotaract members in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, have been volunteering at the region’s largest COVID-19 vaccination center, helping to facilitate the process of immunizing hundreds of people per day.
President Geoff greeted guests and members. He encouraged members to forward suggestions on events/projects to promote Rotary 100 in Australia.
Helen introduced the guest speaker Harry Moffitt.
Harry was in the SAS and has written a book “Eleven Bats” which is a story of combat, cricket and the SAS. He said that when he was a 20 year old and contemplating joining SAS, he could not find any Australian books on the subject on how to join or the training involved. He had to resort to books from the UK, US and Germany. This was the reason he decided to write a book to inspire the young on what is involved and what to expect.
As COVID-19 vaccinations are administered around the globe, you’ve probably seen your social media feeds fill up with joyful vaccine selfies and excited appointment updates. Chances are, you also have someone in your life who’s skeptical. Most of us do — and that has public health officials concerned.
This morning's guest speaker was Nicole Lewis Jacobs, the "Soup Angel"
We met at Cilantro for the first time since COVID 19 and the Currawongs flew out of the gum trees greeting with their distinctive beautiful musical call. Even better, Tony and Sossi greeted us with our favourite coffee, we felt as if we had come home. We had! As we meet at 7:00 am we discovered we were the first club in Australia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary in our beautiful country.
The District Training Assembly is an annual event aimed at informing club office bearers of the latest developments in Rotary in order to better prepare for their role. It’s not just for new office bearers. It’s an opportunity for the more experienced Rotarians to share their experience in a mutually supportive learning environment, aimed at strengthening all our clubs. It’s also a great opportunity for newer Rotarians to network and learn more about the “bigger picture” of Rotary and what happens beyond their club.
On behalf of District Governor Elect Dr Daryl Moran, PDG Tony Monley OAM, D9810 Learning & Development Chair, invites all members of our District to register for one or more sessions in this year’s District Training Assembly.

Market Report May 2, 2021 Tim M, Alan, Ian from RCBMC and Bill and Jothi from Moorabbin. Helen Nodrum and Ron Brownlees. 2100 people through the gate. 7 in the queue and 2 overnight parkers. Everyone accommodated. A beautiful day for a market. Fine weather and no wind. It was the first day using the New vic.gov.au sign in QR code. People were wrapped to come along and be outside after a few miserable Sunday’s. Only a few gaps due to Greek Easter. String crowds throughout the day.
