Message from our President
Just a reminder that we have DG Alma Reynolds joining us for breakfast this Wednesday morning. Alma is running at full pace even as her term as DG draws to a close and she has some very exciting ideas about growing Rotary membership that she is keen to share with us.
Please bring paper and pen as I understand there will be ideas for each of us to record.
We will be getting underway right on time tomorrow so it would be great to have everyone in and seated by 7.00am.
Regards,
Geoff Gledhill
Meeting this week:
This week will be back at Cilantro, details here. Our speaker will be District Governor, Alma Reynolds.
Alma has been a Rotarian for a little over 10 years, serving in a number of club and District roles. She and husband Greg King are members of the Paul Harris Society, demonstrating their strong support for The Rotary Foundation.
With a career spanning the education, automotive, local economic development and horticulture industries, Alma has held various management roles and for last ten years, she has been the principal of her own consultancy.
“The DG year so far has been a very busy time. It’s also been a wonderful experience and I’m so glad I have had this opportunity to serve District 9810 and Rotary,” Alma advises. (taken from intro to Alma at District Conference, May 2021).

Each quarter there is a meeting of District 9810 Presidents, Assistant Governors etc and is hosted by the District Governor. On May 7, 2021this meeting also included Presidents elect and Assistant Governors elect.
Volunteers work to keep the community of Kingston, Ontario, healthy and safe
by Arnold R. Grahl
Taken from rotary.org here. Rotary and Rotaract members in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, have been volunteering at the region’s largest COVID-19 vaccination center, helping to facilitate the process of immunizing hundreds of people per day.
President Geoff greeted guests and members. He encouraged members to forward suggestions on events/projects to promote Rotary 100 in Australia.
Helen introduced the guest speaker Harry Moffitt.
Harry was in the SAS and has written a book “Eleven Bats” which is a story of combat, cricket and the SAS. He said that when he was a 20 year old and contemplating joining SAS, he could not find any Australian books on the subject on how to join or the training involved. He had to resort to books from the UK, US and Germany. This was the reason he decided to write a book to inspire the young on what is involved and what to expect.
As COVID-19 vaccinations are administered around the globe, you’ve probably seen your social media feeds fill up with joyful vaccine selfies and excited appointment updates. Chances are, you also have someone in your life who’s skeptical. Most of us do — and that has public health officials concerned.
The District Training Assembly is an annual event aimed at informing club office bearers of the latest developments in Rotary in order to better prepare for their role. It’s not just for new office bearers. It’s an opportunity for the more experienced Rotarians to share their experience in a mutually supportive learning environment, aimed at strengthening all our clubs. It’s also a great opportunity for newer Rotarians to network and learn more about the “bigger picture” of Rotary and what happens beyond their club.
On behalf of District Governor Elect Dr Daryl Moran, PDG Tony Monley OAM, D9810 Learning & Development Chair, invites all members of our District to register for one or more sessions in this year’s District Training Assembly.
