Message from our President
The month of June is Fellowship month.
If you thought that this was just about encouraging Fellowship as a means of developing friendships and goodwill casually, it is much more.
Rotary Fellowships are international groups that share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends around the world, explore a hobby or profession, and enhance your Rotary experience.
Fellowships are in fact organized interest groups. Examples of these groups are Cricket, Bird Watching, Yachting, 4x4 Vehicles, Comedy, Composting, Pickelball, Railroads and many more.
I couldn’t resist the Rotary Fellowship of Beer Lovers interpretation of the Four Way Test. I wonder if they also belong to the Rotary Fellowship of Comedy??
There is NO Rotary Fellowship of Mahjong so here is an opportunity for the RCBMC to show initiative and start one.
I hope that those members who attended RICON as an attendee or volunteer came away more informed and inspired by what Rotary does in the world. We look forward to hearing your impressions and highlights of the R.I. Convention.
Dinner at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club with visiting Rotarians attending RICON together with our members, family and friends was I believe a great success. Each of us had the opportunity to meet people we wouldn’t normally meet and hear about their lives and their Rotary projects while enjoying a delicious meal and being entertained by two engaging speakers. It was wonderful to see our members give our visitors such a warm welcome, that was openly reciprocated, THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING IT A FUN NIGHT.
Thank you to Greg and Helen for all their work leading up to the night and to Linda, Karin, Sue, Samantha and Kellie for the finer details.
Also, a thank you to Caroline Hollingsworth, Events and Function Manager at RBYC who was incredibly obliging and easy to work with, as nothing was any trouble for her or her staff.
Yours in Rotary,
Glenda
