Message from our President
“Serve to Change Lives”
Congratulations are extended to all club members who were involved in organising a wonderful and very successful change over dinner on Saturday last at
“The Sanctum”, St. Kilda Football Club. Perfect venue, well catered event and friendly staff at the venue who looked after us so well.
Especially though to incoming President, Margaret Mason and Linda O’Brien who attended the bulk of the work in providing such a great night.
Thanks especially are extended to Dee Mason, who did an outstanding job as MC and kept the evening light and entertaining.
Thanks to Neville Kruss and Karin Soster, for the badges, certificates and pins required for our presentations.
To the Awards Committee, Greg, Ian and Peter, you always seem to get it right and the recipients for Paul Harris fellows all worthy members, congratulations to
Geoff Gledhill, Neville Kruss, Grant Perry and Tony Ryan.
So, if last Saturday did not energize your Rotary commitment, then allow me to add eight good reasons to stay and be invested in this wonderful club:
Networking – whether that be professionally or within the Rotary family.
Service Opportunities – experience the fulfilment that comes from giving back to your community and wider global family.
International Awareness – Rotarians gain an understanding of humanitarian issues through international service projects.
Friendship- Rotary was founded on fellowship, an ideal that still today is a major focus to membership.
Entertainment – social activities give each one of us a chance to let go and have fun and get to know each other in a more informal arena.
Ethical Environment – Rotary organisation is known by its high ethical standards, proven via the “Four Way Test”
Leadership Development – team building, fundraising, public speaking, planning, organisation and communication, all enhancing leadership skills.
Inclusion – Rotary clubs are non-political, nonreligious and open to all cultures, races and creeds
Thanks everyone
With every best wishes
President Helen Nodrum

Inner Wheels Change Over
Rotarians are invited to Inner Wheels Change Over on 6th July at Woodlands Golf Club
Details on the invitation All welcome and I'm sure a good time will be had by all
The 2022 convention in Houston, Texas, USA, offered plenty of inspiring moments as Rotary's global network gathered in person for the first time since 2019, following two conventions that were held virtually because of COVID-19. The convention offered participants new horizons to discover through in-person events and a robust schedule of virtual offerings (with recordings available through 31 August).
After discovering new perspectives and being inspired by new ideas at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, attendees and virtual participants are looking ahead to next year's gathering in Melbourne, the sparkling second city of Australia.
I had the pleasure of dropping into St. Kilda Mum’s unannounced on Thursday last where I was warmly greeted and invited in. Each year donations made on a nominated day in June are tripled through the corporate sponsors of this organization, hence our $2,000.00 donation increased to $6,000.00. Ruth Holdaway CEO is seen here in this picture with yours truly.
Tim L was our chairperson for today’s club meeting at Cilantro. After performing Acknowledgement to Country, he called upon Glenda for invocation and Larry for the loyal toast. Tim welcomed guests Anna Mouradian, our frequent club visitor, and Kelly Crothers from Marriott Support Services. Charles R and Karin joined the meeting via Zoom. How lucky we are to have Zoom to keep members connected if unable to attend meetings in person. This morning’s meeting was devoted to fellowship since our guest speaker was unable to attend.
Each year our club donates to Australian Rotary Health, $5,000. This donation is directed to providing funding for indigenous students. This year’s recipient of our donation is Isobella Kruger. Isobella is currently studying medicine at Monash University and is at the fourth year level.
