Edition 108 Monday, 6th February 2023

Message from our President

Wednesday, February 1st, highlighted the benefits of having a steady, source of income. This income allows Bentleigh Moorabbin Central the ability to have a positive impact in the community such as the significant donations to Marriott Services, SES and Calvary Care.
We were pleased to welcome Kellie from Marriott Services, David and Shannon from Calvary Care and Nicko  from Glen Eira SES to hear the benefits, and the impact that our contributions will make to each of these organisations
A big thank you to those members who attended the Beachside Gift on Saturday, cooking sausages from 10am to 9pm, on what was threatening to be a wet and windy day. The weather was kind, banter was ongoing, the event fun.
On Wednesday, February 8th we will be creating a strategy to attract new members and retain current members.
Larry Green and Tim Lynch will be facilitating the discussion around their draft plan so please come along with suggestions.  At the conclusion of the meeting, Larry and Tim want to have gathered enough positive input from members to further develop their plan of action, with goals, objectives, and strategies to be implemented immediately.
Our world has changed since Rotary started, attracting new members is a challenge so put your thinking caps on, dare to put forward different views.
As an aging club consider how we can attract the 40year to 60-year-olds?
As an aging club how do we keep current members engaged?
What are the benefits of membership to them?
Do we place more emphasis on a relevant, topical cause?
Offer unique opportunities to participate in events and activities not offered elsewhere?
Utilise social media and online communication.
Increase our partnerships with local organisations.
Ensure we have more regular social functions for fellowship where can invite friends, family, and colleagues with a view to them becoming members.
These are just a few ideas, just a place to start!
Yours in Rotary,
Glenda

International Club Toast
  • Grant’s international club toast this week was to President Frances Willacy and members at Annan Rotary Club in Scotland – a town in Dumfries and Galloway located in south-west Scotland and the birth place of George Johnston who sailed aboard the Lady Penrhyn in the First Fleet to Botany Bay in 1788.  Grant provided an interesting and well-researched history lesson for everyone – thank you Grant.  Annan R.C. projects include hosting a Young Artist Competition, tree planting, and providing electronic equipment to students in their local school.
