This morning our chair person was Ron Brownlees, 
We received apologies from Karin, Gabriela Santi and Michael Josem. Gabriela was attending a breakfast meeting hosted by Bayside Council, this was to promote businesses operated by women. Linda announce that Gabriela was to receive an award from Bayside council, Linda also announced that Gabriela is now a grandmother.
Michael is in Canberra for two weeks, this is work related, this si what happens when you work for a federal politician – forced to spend time in Canberra.
Larry Green, our market chairman announced that new flyers have been printed for the market.
Ron introduced Sam Jackson from Emerge. Sam explained that Emerge helps women to rebuild their lives by providing them with a safe refuge and has programs to assist women and children fleeing domestic crisis situations. Emerge supplies short, medium and long-term, affordable housing, Many of the women and children are highly disadvantaged and come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Following Sam’s presentation was a lively question period, where a number of members had questions. Ron thanked Sam for her presentation and presented her with our speaker’s gift.
Ron asked Linda O’Brien to the lectern to conduct the vote for the donation to Interplast. At the last board meeting on the 10th March, the board of BMC approved a donation of $8,000 for Interplast to conduct nurse training programs in Tonga/ Pacific region. In accordance with our club's Standing Orders that state donations of $5,000 or more must be approved by 1/3 of club members, As there were thirteen members present then the vote could progress. Linda presented the motion to the assembled members and it was seconded by Peter O’Brien. The motion was passed unanimously.
Ian Ballantine spoke briefly about the recent District 9815 Conference in Hobart and the club’s attendance and members assistance on the Interplast stand. Interplast is a Rotary supported project (website HERE). Greg O’Shea donated accommodation at Quest Geelong as a raffle prize at the conference to help support Interplast .
Ian also mentioned that our speaker next week will be John Humphery, a recovery physiotherapist, from Bluff Road Physiotherapy.
As there was no further business the chairman, Ron, asked the president, Grant, to close the the meeting.
