Speaker: 9810 District Governor Elect Ian Ballantine
Ian arrived wearing a very colourful shirt of an Indigenous design which he went on to explain was worn by all Australian and New Zealand incoming District Governors and partners at the International Assembly held at Shingle Creek Hotel, in Florida USA.
The International Assembly is training for all incoming District Governors worldwide, the venue needed to cater for 600 DGE and partners plus 100 volunteers and various speakers. Thirty -six DGE’s came from Zone 8, our region which covers Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands.
Ian said although the days were very full with sessions starting early and finishing late with a dinner, the speakers and the vibe was amazing, very inspirational, informative and energising.
Helen became affectionally known as “Helen from Melbourne” making many friends from around the world who she invited to visit and enjoy a BBQ. It seems the number invited and accepted will see a lunch table extending out of the house, through the garden and down the street., should be fun!
The enthusiasm from Ian was contagious, we look forward to sharing this important year with him.
Next Rotary Years theme will be “Create Hope in the World”
