PRESIDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS – President Ron Brownlees
Meetings:
Monday 14 August 2023 – BMC board meeting
Wednesday 16 August 2023 – BMC morning club meeting with a DG Visit with ‘our own’ DG Ian Ballantine

GUEST SPEAKER – David Trotter and assistant Josh Rogowski – Reform Exercise Science
David is an exercise physiologist and scientist and owner/director of Reform Exercise Science in Moorabbin that specializes in creating personalized fitness programs for people over 65 and living with disabilities and chronic medical conditions to improve their health and well-being through exercise.   David comes with 30 year’s experience in the health and fitness industry and explained exercise physiology is a relatively new field that is recognised with a university qualification –2 years as an under graduate and 2 years study for a masters degree.  New clients undergo an initial assessment before a personalized program is tailored to meet their requirements which can include one on one training or group training exercising in the fully equipped gymnasium with state of the art equipment.   Clients are monitored for blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels and ECG, and their programs are reassessed every 6 – 12 weeks.   Reform Exercise Science works with relevant Allied Health Professionals and programs attract rebates through NDIS, Medicare, Health Insurance and the Government Department of Veteran’s Affairs for clients who qualify.  Whilst the clinic specializes in programs for clients with disabilities and chronic health conditions, it is available to anyone wishing to improve or maintain their health and well-being for longevity and good health. During the presentation club members were invited to participate in sit/stand tests for 30 seconds as a measurable exercise in fitness, and a heel/toe exercise that measures balance – both seemed simple exercises, but had some surprising results.   Thank you David and Josh for your very informative presentation.

President Ron closed the meeting and invited club members to Create Hope in the World.
