President Tim chaired this week's very informal club breakfast meeting at Aila Cafe in Highett - during this first week of school holidays. It was a lovely breakfast enjoyed by all who attended that included guests Bronwyn, Gary, and Jules. Thank you Linda for arranging the booking, and tending to the registration and breakfast orders. As always, everything went very smoothly.
CLUB DONATION TO INTERPLAST - Paul Ferguson
Following on from information that was provided during last week's club meeting, Paul reiterated the works of Interplast that commenced in 1983, and which since commencement, has performed over 27,000 medical procedures in the Asia Pacific region that are often life changing for the recipients. Our club has been an annual supporter of Interplast, having at one time provided funds for an entire team to conduct medical procedures on one of their missions.
Paul explained the difference between Interplast, which provides medical services on site in the Asia Pacific region, and ROMAC which brings patients into Australia from the Asia Pacific region to undergo medical procedures here in Australia due to the nature and complexity of the medical procedure required.
At the March 2025 board meeting, the BMC Board approved a donation of $10,000 to Interplast for creating and delivering on demand training webinars in surgical procedures designed for clinicians and allied health services in the Asia Pacific region. In accordance with our club's Standing Orders, donations that are for $5,000 or more require club member approval.
