The room was beautifully decorated with Linda O'Brien's imaginatively lit table decorations. After a complimentary welcome drink, guests enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by the catering staff at the Sandy. We need to thank Linda for all her hard work behind the scenes for pulling this evening together and which ran so smoothly.
Among the many guests that included club members, partners and family, Rotarians from other clubs, and specially invited guests, we were graced with the presence of D9815 DGE Peter Behm who participated in some of the evening's formalities. Tim delivered a farewell speech to thank club members for his year as president and Grant delivered his incoming speech, adding this year is significant as it commemorates 30 years since the commencement of our two clubs Bentleigh and Moorabbin Central in 1995. Charles Rener was the first president of the joined club, and Ron Brownlees was the second president - both of whom were in attendance.
This was also a night for recognising club members for service to our club and Rotary. The following club members received PHF recognition for their service to the Club - Linda O'Brien, Ron Brownlees, Larry Green, and Karin Soster. Kellie Carruthers was presented with a Certificate of
Appreciation to add to the list of recipients who received certificates at last week's club meeting. Recognition is a lovely acknowledgement, but we also need to acknowledge all our club members contribute to the success of our club. We have a great club with supportive club members. We all look forward to and welcome in the new Rotary year with Grant as president.
